CLYDE -- Roy Edward Bennett, 27, of Clyde, formerly of Brownwood, died Friday at the Abilene Regional Medical Center following a construction accident earlier. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Boone officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park. He was born on Aug. 30, 1975, in Covington, Ky. He married Carrie Wristen on March 22, 1997, in Comanche. He worked for the Steven Martin Construction Company of Abilene. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Comanche. He had been a resident of Clyde for the past three months, moving there from Brownwood. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Ann Bennett, of Clyde, two sons, Lane and Cody, both of the home, a daughter, April, of the home, his mother, Nacomi Russell of Brownwood, his sister, Viola Bennett of Brownwood, and his grandfather and hunting and fishing companion, Richard “Red” Guthrie of Brownwood. Roy loved the outdoors and was a wonderful teacher of sports to his boys and a good father to his children. The whole family spent many enjoyable days camping, fishing, and hunting at his grandfather’s place on the Pecan Bayou. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
