Eugene H. (Gene) Gibson, Sr. was born October 27th, 1928 in Pioneer, Tx. Gene graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1946, and then graduated from Texas A&M University in 1953 with a degree in Horticulture. After college, Gene worked as agronomist in Weslaco, TX where he met his wife, Esther. Gene and Esther raised two sons, Bruce and Gene, Jr. The Gibson family moved to Brownwood, TX from San Antonio, TX in 1965. In 1974, Gene began a career in real estate sales and residential construction. He also served the community in many capacities including serving on the board of the Brownwood Independent School District and as a long-time usher at First Baptist Church. Gene is survived by his son Bruce and wife Krista of Midlothian, VA and his son Gene and wife Janie of Savannah, GA and 5 grandchildren: Anna Kay, Cole, Gunnar, Mary Brit and Iris.

Eugene was preceded in death by his wife Esther, his parents Wright Robert Gibson and Sybil Jewel(Taylor) Gibson and brothers Wright, Harris, Franklin Delano (Buck) Gibson and a sister Carmen (Gibson) Woodard
