Richard A. Ivy, Sr., 72, of Early, passed away on Saturday,
October 08, 2016, in Brownwood.
Richard was born in Lufkin, Texas
to Bolivar Cleveland and Mary Ethel Prestridge Ivy on January 12,
1944. He graduated from Huntington High School in Huntington, TX in
1962. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Howard
Payne College (now Howard Payne University) in 1966. He pastored
numerous Baptist churches throughout Texas in his 51 year ministry,
including churches in London, Brownwood, Gatesville, Lufkin,
Onalaska, Melissa, Baytown, Houston, Cleveland, San Saba, and Mullin.
He also taught school for 18 years in Brookesmith and Brownwood
Independent School Districts.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; brothers W.J. Ivy, Daniel Palmer Ivy, George Prestridge Ivy,
and Edwin Warner Ivy; sister, Gloria Agnes Ivy Kirkland; and
great-grandson, River Herman.
Richard is survived by his wife of
50 years, Glenna Joy Meek Ivy; his daughters Kathryn (Steven) Fisher
of Stephenville, Elisabeth Johnson of Early, and Mary Alice (Shawn)
Wilkins of San Angelo; son, Rick (Lisa) Ivy of Pflugerville; two
brothers, Teddy Bolivar (Barbara) Ivy of Huntington, and Jerry Joe
(Carolyn) Ivy of Fairfield; fourteen grandchildren, Rebecca, Ashlin,
Sandy, Addison, Austin, Elisabeth Grace, Ivy Lynn, Joshua, Ryan,
Cameron, Craig, Travis, Julie & Haley; and two
great-grandchildren, Chase and Riott.
