Howard Summers, age 66, of Early, passed away December 8, 2002, at his residence after a long, hard battle with cancer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A resident of Brownwood since 1960, he worked for the Brownwood Bulletin for 10 years and then for Santa Fe Railroad for 27 years. He is survived by his wife, Bettie Summers of Early; his children, Gary Summers and wife, September, of San Angelo and Lisa Short and husband, Kyle, of Spearman; grandchildren, Sydney and Christian Summers and Jordan, Lindsey and Chandler Short; and sister-in-law, Merle Summers of Copperas Cove. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. A. and Evia Summers, and two brothers, J. K. Summers and Ira Dorman Summers.
