He was born to Eugene and Josephine (Connaway)Posey at Indian Creek Texas.He lived most of His life on His Farm and Ranch in the Indian Creek area. His Grandfather and Grandmother had settled on the Home place in 1876 and has been in the Posey Family sence that time. His Grandfather William Posey was a cattleman and wagon master from Texas to California, His Grandfather, William Posey had also traded Cotton for Cattle with Mexico on behife of the Confederate Army and had been a part of the Reconstruction in Texas after the Cival War. Elmer Posey married Vela McCoy in 1930 and they were married for 74 years. They moved to Brownwood Texas in 1980 but they kept the family farm at Indian Creek Texas. They were members of Central United Methodist Church in Brownwood Texas. His Wife Vela, passed away in Brownwood in 2004. Together they had four Childran, Burl Posey and wife of Iredell Texas, Nelda Cross, Rheba Wallingford and Husband Doug of San Antonio Texas and Frances Boyle of Annandale Va. Elmer Posey had a deep sense of commitiment to community service. He served in the Methodist Church most of His life holding different offices and leading the singing while His Wife Vela played the piano.He served six years on the elected board of McCulloch County Electric Coop. and He served fourteen years on the Brooksmith School Boatd.He joined the Masonic lodge in 1931 and served in every office including three times as Master. He received the Highest award to be awarded in Masonry, the Golden Trowel award while serving in Brownwood Texas Chapter. He was a member of the Indian Creek Eastern Star for 60 years and also served as worthy Patron sixteen times.. Elmer Posey was the last liveing member of His Family. He was preceded in death by His Brother Allen Posey.also His three Sisters, Hazel McCoy, Ina Pierce, and Mabel Byrd. He left behind Seven Grandchildran and fourteen Greatgrand Childran. also countless friends who had known Him all their lives. I knew Mr Elmer Posey when I also lived at Indian Creek Texas. I did not know Him very well but I went to school with one of His childran. all that was ever said about this Family was Good. they were a Good Christain Family who worked hard for what they had. and they taught all their childran the values of life. they were just good down to earth family people. He will be missed by everyone who knew Him.
