Jerry Don Greenwood Sr. was born on September 22, 1936, in Las Cruces New Mexico to Avis Andrew Greenwood and Alta Leona Yarborough Greenwood and on February 15, 1958 he married Mattie June Cathey. Jerry had been a member of the Victory Baptist Church and had lived in Bangs for most of his life.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sister, Peggy Cathey of Hector Arkansas; cousin, Betty Cathey of Coleman; children, Cathey McKamey and husband David of Bangs and Jerry Greenwood Jr., and wife Tracey of Bangs; grandchildren, Brett McKamey and Saber of Early, Steffen McKamey of Bangs, Mark Greenwood of Austin, Jessica and Rusty Johnson of California and Don Greenwood of Bangs. He is also survived by his great-grandson Halen McKamey of Early; several nieces and nephews and his companion, Sherry Greenwood.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie June Greenwood and his parents, Avis and Leona Greenwood.
Mr. Greenwood died on Friday, March 8, 2013, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services for Jerry Don Greenwood Sr., 76, of Bangs, will be held at 1 PM on Friday, March 15th in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery with the Reverend Ruben Packer officiating. Interment will follow, under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home.
