Funeral services for Ronald E. “Ronnie” Cornelius, age 68, of Zephyr, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Zephyr Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening. Ronnie passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2006, in Brownwood Regional Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 18, 1937, in Brownwood to Elton and Cledah Beckham Cornelius. He married Joy (Golden) Wade on April 19, 1969, in Brownwood. Ronnie worked as a custodian for the Zephyr schools for a number of years. He was a lifelong resident of Zephyr and member of the Zephyr Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Joy of Zephyr; a daughter, Alicia Voglesong and husband Gary of Brownwood; three sons, Viron Cornelius and wife Becky of Zephyr, Michael Wade and wife Carol of Zephyr, and Tommy Wade of Brownwood; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; his step-father, Lenard Chamberlain; two sisters, Myrna Wright and husband J.R. of Brownwood and Sandra Assenmacher of Abilene; a brother, Kendall Cornelius and wife Jenette of Zephyr; and aunt, Alma Bramlet; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Bud Assenmacher; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association or the Zephyr Baptist Church.
